When given the opportunity to research a topic of my choice,
I immediately thought of Rubrics.
I immediately thought of Rubrics.
Rubrics have never quite worked for me, and I didn't know why. I worked for hours to create the perfect rubric, only to find a half a dozen flaws in its assessment technique later on. My intial goal for my inquiry map was to find a new way to construct my rubrics by focusing on establishing and communicating criteria, formatting the rubric, and following the best practices supported by published reasearch and theory. I found so much more. There is a heavy debate on the use of rubrics, particularly in the writing classroom. After the last few weeks of inquiry mapping, I now believe my opinion on and plans for use of rubrics are very informed. Please check out my sources, both on my ThingLink embedded here and the peer reviewed material I've uploaded below. If you are interested in a summary of my findings or my final thoughts on Rubrics (as of now,) please check out the Prezi embedded below.
